Progress at the Pleasant Street Branch
We are thrilled to share that the Pleasant Street Child Development Center renovation project has officially hit the 50% mark of its completion!
To date, all demolition and the installation of walls and drywalls are completed. The skylights that will provide natural light for the children have been finished and the new child-sized bathroom is roughed in and ready for fixtures to be installed. Next, we will see the completion of windows, doors, cabinets, floors, and painting over the next six weeks.
What the Future Child Development Center at Pleasant Street will be
The new center will have 5 classrooms and will be licensed for 65 children up from 45 prior to the renovation. The project will create employment opportunities for 20 early childhood education professionals, facilitating a safe and modern learning environment.
This initiative significantly benefits OUR community by offering affordable childcare options that are comparable to higher-cost centers. The Attleboro Norton YMCA pledges to reserve 51% of slots for low-income families for a minimum of 5 years, with a commitment to maintaining at least 30% of low-income slots thereafter. This ensures access to quality childcare for families in the region, enabling parents to work with peace of mind while their children receive care in a safe and supportive environment.
