Jonathan Stout’s family is working with the Attleboro YMCA to drive awareness and raise funds to make water safety a priority in our community. In collaboration with the Y, they’re asking Jonathan’s friends, family, neighbors, and community members to help fund the Jonathan Stout Safety Around Water Program.
PROGRAM GOALS
- To offer life-saving swim lessons to 100 youth participants so all youth can enjoy the water safely.
- Create lifelong swimmers and promote water safety throughout our community.
- Offer lifeguard training and certification to 3 teens who can serve as role models for the youth of our community.
- Offer swim instructor training to Attleboro teens.
The program will run year-round with free Safety Around the Water swim lessons at the Attleboro YMCA’s Downtown Branch.
FOR JONATHAN
The program is named after Jonathan Daniel Stout, a 2017 graduate of Attleboro High School who died in a swimming accident at the age of 19. Jonathan was a resident of Attleboro since 2008. He was enrolled at Bristol County Community College and was set to begin his sophomore year. He is one of seven respected and beloved children of Pastor William Stout, Jr. and Tiana Stout. His older sisters Shontay and Tiara, his older brothers Raheem and David, and his younger brother and sister Briana and Joshua all miss him very much.
Jonathan truly treasured the times he spent at the Attleboro YMCA, where he loved to play basketball and participate in weightlifting. Everyone at the YMCA who knew Jonathan said he was a friend to all, intelligent, polite, and had a genuine heart and competitive spirit. Jonathan has always been full of life, love, and adventure.
