It is with sadness that we share the loss of our dear friend, Sally Cobb, who passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning.

Sally Cobb was a dedicated Attleboro Norton YMCA volunteer for many years and a member of our Board of Directors from 2014 until 2023. She co-chaired the annual YMCA rooftop events for many years, including the 150th YMCA celebration, adding her unique style and artistic flair to each occasion. Sally’s presence was not limited to events alone; she could often be found exercising at the Y, participating in group exercise classes, or engaging in personal training sessions with Lisa Vecchioli to stay active and healthy.

For many years, Sally lovingly tended to the beautiful planters in front of the YMCA doors, ensuring they were a stunning display for members coming and going. Her dedication to our community extended beyond her volunteer work at the YMCA.

Sally’s inspiration, talent, and passion brought her to be one of the co-founders of the Empty Bowls Attleboro Area Program. The love she had for the Attleboro community and her belief in making the world a better place were the driving forces behind Empty Bowls annual fundraising efforts. Feeding those in need was Sally’s mission, and in this endeavor, she was an unstoppable force.

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Sally. She has left a significant void in many lives and our community spirit. We are immensely grateful for all she has contributed to enrich our community.

If you have a Sally bowl in your collection, please hold it close for a moment and offer her some thanks.

Sally is deeply missed and will always be remembered for her compassion, dedication, and the lasting impact she made on all of us.

Please feel free to join us at a celebration of life on Wednesday, June 12 at the Sweet Community House at 44 Peck Street in Attleboro from 3:00-6:00 pm. Everyone is welcome.

In lieu of flowers: Sally’s family has requested donations to the YMCA’s Senior Meals program.
