Attleboro, MA (June 29, 2023) – The Attleboro Norton YMCA is thrilled to announce that Leigh Fontes has been named the new CEO. She was formerly the Interim CEO.
Fontes brings 29 years of YMCA experience to her new role. She has been with the Attleboro Norton YMCA since 2019 first as VP of Operations and then Chief Operating Officer be fore stepping into the Interim CEO position in March. Prior to joining the Attleboro Norton Y staff team, Leigh served in senior leadership roles at the Hockomock Area YMCA.
“Our goal was to find a leader who will continue to advance our vision and our work to strengthen communities while ensuring equitable access for all,” remarked the Attleboro Norton YMCA Board’s President & Chief Volunteer Officer, Jann Alden in her letter to the Y’s staff and members. “We know Leigh is the right person to build on all of the Attleboro Norton Y‘s accomplishments and lead the Y to continue to meet the growing needs of the communities we serve.”
Fontes, a North Attleboro native, states, “I am honored to lead this organization and incredibly hard-working staff team. I look forward to increasing our impact and building more inclusive, resilient communities where everyone can thrive.”
Fontes will have many goals in her new CEO role, but first up is the Y’s Rooftop Party fundraising event on Friday, September 8 from 6-10pm. Each year, Y members and friends gather atop the Y to enjoy the views with live music, food, and drink in support of their Annual Campaign, which funds financial assistance to the Y’s camps and programs, memberships, Senior Meals program, and more. “This event is a ton of fun each year raising significant funds for our Y’s mission of welcoming everyone through our doors.” Leigh added, “I encourage everyone to come out and meet me there, especially if you haven’t been before!”
