There’s something for every kid at the Y. They can meet new friends, build skills, develop interests and try new things in a supportive environment with caring adults. Our sports programs emphasize values, sportsmanship, friendship and most of all, fun!


JANUARY – JUNE 2018: Sports Classes

Beginning in January 2018, the Attleboro Y will now offer our Sports Classes on a monthly basis. We know that families have busy schedules. This new programming allows you to start playing when you’re ready and to stop when you must. Sign up for one month or all six! It’s up to you.

Lacrosse Clinic – Saturday, January 20

Ages: 5-11

Interested in learning to play lacrosse this spring? Get a jump start with our one-hour, indoor clinic! Learn about our revamped Lacrosse program with Coach Mike. He will be there to answer questions, lead players through a series of fun drills, and demonstrate this rapidly growing sport. Preschool League Sampler

Ages: 4-5

In the Sports League Sampler, young players will explore three different sports that the Attleboro YMCA offers. This class focuses on the love of the game, being active, and getting kids excited to try a new sport. The sports for this program include:

Youth Instructional Basketball

Ages: 5-11

This class introduces participants to the basics of basketball, including dribbling, shooting, and passing as well as basic game rules. Class time will be divided between drills and skills and a scrimmage.

Youth Karate

Ages: 4.5-18

The Y’s “Eclectic Karate” program combines the strengths of various disciplines to emphasize self-defense, control, positive attitude and spirit. Year-round program.

Kids Triathlon Program

Ages 5-15

This training program encourages kids to be active and healthy while doing three things they already love to do – swimming, biking, and running! This training program is specifically designed for youth, ages 5 to 15. Learn and improve your swim strokes, transitions, develop strength and stamina.

Floor Hockey

Ages: 6-12

This class uses the skills players already know and develops them. It will also allow new participants to learn the basics of floor hockey including puck handling, shooting, and passing as well as basic game rules. Class time will be divided between drills and skills as well as a scrimmage.

Recommended equipment: Stick and Gloves
Required Equipment: Mouth guard and Sneakers

Jaguars Youth Track & Field Program

Ages: 6-18

Under the direction of the YMCA’s Youth Wellness Specialist Ed Poirier and the Jaguars coaching staff, youth athletes participate in running, shot put, Javelin, long jump, and Cross Country. The program offers both parent and child fitness activities, including weekly fitness runs and walks. No mandatory practices or events. Come when you can!

Archery

Ages: 7-15

From stringing the bow to hitting a bulls-eye, our staff will teach you all that you need to know about archery.

Lacrosse Skills Class

This instructional sports class introduces young players to the fundamental skills necessary to play this fun, exciting sport! Players will focus on passing, shooting, and defense while also learning the game through a series of scrimmages.

Drop-In Volleyball

Ages: 11-18

Pass, set, hit. In this drop-in program, players will improve their volleyball skills by building from the fundamentals. This class is for beginners and advanced players alike!

Beginning November 20th

Get into the game this spring with the Y’s Spring Sports Leagues! Registration is now open for all of our 10-week spring leagues. The leagues begin Saturday, April 7th.

Looking to work on your soccer skills this spring? Through the Y’s developmental soccer program, young players progress with their soccer fundamentals while learning how to work as a team and having a great time.

The Y’s developmental flag football league invites players of all abilities to pass, punt, and run their way to a great season. The Y staff will lead skills development clinics for the first two weeks followed by eight weeks of games.
