No matter what your child’s interests may be, the Attleboro YMCA Specialty Camps have the perfect option for you. Our specialty camps help kids strengthen their skills, discover new talents, and develop confidence in their own potential!

SUMMER 2021

We can’t wait to welcome our campers back to camp this summer! This summer, all of our Specialty Camps will take place at the Norton Outdoor Center, home of Camp Finberg!

Our Specialty Camps are offered as weekly camps. Registration opens on February 1st!

A $50 non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of registration for each week of specialty camp. Please note that your child’s registration is not considered final until we receive your child’s physical and immunization records. 

Specialty Camp Weekly Fees:

$275 for Y Members, $300 for Non-Members
(For Extended Day, add $25 for Y Members and $35 for Non-Members)

SPORTS CAMPS

SOCCER CAMP

Grades: 1-6

Emphasize learning and improving a strong foundation of soccer skills for the beginner to advanced player. The junior camp is perfect for campers who want to advance their soccer skills and enjoyment of the game. Our goal is for all campers to have a fun, productive week of soccer that will enhance both their skills and passion for the game.

Program Objectives

• Ball control
• Offensive and defensive positional play
• Technical and tactical training
• Small sided training that maximizes touches on the ball
• Enjoy soccer while learning about the game in a positive
environment

FLAG FOOTBALL CAMP

Grades: 1-6

This fun week of camp welcomes players of all skill levels. For players who have never played organized football, this is a perfect opportunity to introduce the game in a controlled and structured environment. While learning basic fundamentals, players will be able to develop their skills and gain confidence. Experienced players can sharpen their fundamentals and learn new techniques through a variety of drills and games.

Program Objectives

• Improve knowledge of the game while having fun and staying safe
• Gain experience catching and throwing
• Provides athletes with an opportunity to try all positions
• Improve ball security, run and escape moves, and hand-off mechanics

GOLF CAMP

Grades: 1-6

Golf camp offer young athletes an opportunity to experience the wonders of golf in a fun and positive environment. Learn and practice the basics of golf every day, putting, chipping and game fundamentals. We are confident golfers of all ability levels will leave with improved skills, higher self-esteem, new friends and more passion for the sport.

Program Objectives

• Learn the importance of the fundamentals of a good grip
• Practice good posture
• Develop club and body alignment
• Practice backswing techniques
• Learn and practice golf etiquette

LACROSSE CAMP

Grades: 1-6

The Lacrosse Camp features two levels to allow players of all ages and skill level to develop and learn in a competitive and fun environment. Our dedicated staff from many collegiate programs ensures each camper’s growth and knowledge of lacrosse. Special emphasis is placed on increasing each camper’s understanding of the game and challenging them to become better all-around lacrosse players.

Program Objectives

• Improve basic and fundamental skills: throwing, catching, cradling, and shooting
• Gain knowledge in offense and defense areas, team tactics, and field vision
• Build self-confidence and maintain a positive attitude, ensure that every camper leaves with a better knowledge and enjoyment of the game

BASKETBALL CAMP

Grades: 1-6

The goal of the Basketball Camp is to improve the level of play of each camper and to provide them with a rewarding and fun camp experience while learning the fundamentals of basketball.

Program Objectives

• Improve basic game skills: shooting, dribbling, rebounding, and passing
• Improve offensive and defensive positional play
• Improve overall fitness
• Offer continual coaching during instructional and game situations
• Learn basic strategies and rules of basketball
• Emphasize teamwork and fair play
• Learn more about basketball while enjoying the game

SUPER SPORTS CAMP

Grades: 1-6

The goal of our Super Sports camp is to offer every child an opportunity to try out multiple sports each week to see what they enjoy most. Skills and drills will be offered in a fun environment while building skills and learning more about the sport of the day. Kids will participate in Soccer, Lacrosse, Flag Football, Basketball and more.

Program Objectives

• Improve basic game skills of all sports
• Improve overall fitness
• Offer continual coaching during instructional and game situations
• Learn basic strategies and rules of multiple sports
• Emphasize teamwork and fair play
• Learn more about the sports they participate in to help choose what they would like to learn more about

BACKYARD SPORTS CAMP

Grades: 1-6

A week of all things that kids love most about playing sports in the backyard with friends! Fun, friendship, team work and sports all rolled into one week.

Program Objective

• Learn fun games such as Pickleball, Badminton, Messy Backyard, Kickball and more
• Become a better team player, and learn team building skills
• Get active outside with friends
• Learn about sports from other parts of the world and from times past

TRACK & FIELD CAMP

Grades: 1-8

This camp was developed to introduce young athletes to this sport rich in tradition and history. Combining technical
development and fundamental techniques with safety and a major focus on fun! Our exercises and drills will prepare athletes for a future in cross-country, track and field events, distance running, while inspiring a love for running and being active. Participants will put it all together for one fun-filled day at the end of the week at the Finberg track and field meet!

Program Objectives

• Improve fundamentals of body positioning and stride
• Learn about cool-down techniques
• Gain knowledge of proper stretching for runners
• Explore field events, such as javelin, discus, and shot put

AQUATICS CAMPS

WATER POLO CAMP

Ages: 9-14

Introduce your swimmer to one of the coolest sports in the pool! With the support of collegiate coaches and athletes, your
child will learn the basics of this Olympic sport. To participate, each camper must complete a swim evaluation prior to beginning camp. Our Aquatics Director will contact you after registration to schedule an appointment.

AQUATICS ADVENTURES

Ages: 6-12

Explore new ways to use your imagination while at the pool! We will work as a team to develop creative projects that can move from land to pool. Swim, float, row, paddle … we’ll do it all! OUTDOOR CHALLENGERS I

Ages: 7-9

Up for a challenge? Learn to navigate trails, conquer new heights, and learn basic wilderness skills. Daily challenges
promote teamwork, logical reasoning, and a chance to take on Mother Nature.

OUTDOOR CHALLENGERS II

Ages: 10-12

Put your adventurous spirit to the test! Campers will have the opportunity to explore the challenge course to the fullest,
navigate 80 acres of surrounding woods, and exercise the elements of wilderness survival. This session culminates with
an outdoor camping adventure when the campers put their new skills into action!

1 – Online.

The easiest (and greenest) way to register for our summer camps! From our online registration site, you can register, make your deposit payment, and fill out your camper’s information – all in one convenient shot. Please note that you will have to fill out all of your camper’s pickup information and medical history at registration, so be sure to set aside enough time at your convenience.

The only thing you’ll have left to do is to upload your child’s physical forms to your online account or send them via email to pflanagan@attleboroymca.org or mail at least two weeks prior to your child’s first day at camp.

2 – By mail.
