Through the Y’s competitive swimming program, young swimmers strive to meet personal and team goals, learn the value of hard work, and to enjoy spirited competition.

In an effort to continue Attleboro’s long-standing tradition of swimming excellence, the Attleboro YMCA is thrilled to partner with the Attleboro Bluefish Swim Club. By bringing together the Y’s extensive swim lesson experience with the Bluefish Club’s competitive swimming expertise, we’re able to provide our community with a comprehensive, progressive swim program.

Bluefish YMCA Swim Team

The Bluefish Swim Club is a developmental program that strives to build the fastest swimmer while developing the whole person. Our goal is to provide a program that is a support system that will meet the needs of our swimmers from entry level through college. We stress hard work and dedication not only in the pool but within all other aspects of their lives. Successful swimmers need to master essential life skills, including time management, dedication, commitment, goal setting and especially, goal completion.

Intro/Developmental Programs

Goldfish: This group is a pre-competitive group for children between the ages of 7-13. It requires a commitment of two practices a week. This program is designed as a transitional introduction into the world of competitive swimming. This group will concentrate on the fundamentals of competitive swimming, technique and stroke development with an introduction to endurance training in a fun and dynamic environment.

Mini Bluefish: This group is designed for our youngest swimmers between the ages of 5 and 9. Practices are an hour to an hour and a half three times a week. Heavy emphasis is placed on good technique while mastering the essentials of competitive swimming. Understanding how to use the pace clock, proper lane etiquette, and how to create a race strategy are factors taught at this level.

Competitive Level Programs

Juniors 1-3 and Seniors 1-3: The spectrum of competitive levels allow each swimmer to progress in terms of their swimming skills, abilities, and commitment level as they advance through the program.
