Teaching people to swim for more than a century, the Attleboro Y offers aquatics programs for people of all ages and abilities. Children learn to be safe around water and they feel the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning something new. At the same time, adults maintain their fitness through the lifetime sport of swimming or by participating in the Y’s water fitness programs.

Safety Around Water

71% of the World is Water

Children Are 100% Curious

The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program can help kids learn essential water safety skills.

WHAT IS SAFETY AROUND WATER?

This 8-day course, taught by a certified instructor, can reduce the risk of drowning and give kids the confidence in and around water. A typical session includes:

  • Exercises to help children adjust to being in water
  • Instruction in “Jump, Push, Turn, Grab” and “Swim, Float, Swim”
  • A fun game to encourage comfort and activity around water
SAFETY AROUND WATER SCHOLARSHIPS

Thanks to a grant from Y of the USA, the Attleboro Y is able to offer scholarships for 100 kids to attend the program at no cost! These scholarships will be awarded based on financial need. We’re thrilled to be able to extend this important program to so many. To apply for one of the scholarships, please return the Y’s Financial Assistance Application to the Y at least one week prior to the first class.
