It’s never too early to begin forging healthy lifetime habits. At the Attleboro Y, we believe it’s our duty to work with local youth, families, and schools to bring about a healthier future for the young people in our community. The Y’s Youth Wellness programs encourage kids to make healthier choices about what they eat, what they do, and how they can live to their best potential.

Youth Wellness Center Orientation

Ages: 8-13

Youth Members who would like to use the strength and cardio equipment need to make an appointment for an orientation with the Health and Wellness staff. The orientation will teach youth members how to safely and efficiently use the equipment, and instruct them about general Wellness Center rules and etiquette. More than one appointment may be necessary depending on the youth member’s needs and understanding. Once training is completed, an access pass will be given. Children who are 11 or younger must continue to workout alongside a parent or guardian.

Kids Yoga

Ages: 3-12

Yoga is beneficial for everyone and can be used to help improve all elements of life. Yoga for kids is a dynamic class where the kids will learn yoga poses and apply those poses in games and activities. Kids benefit from yoga as it helps relieve stress, be active, and think in positive ways.

MON 6:00-6:30 p.m.

Location:  Downtown Branch

Free for Y Members. Drop-in program. No registration required.

Kids Triathlon Training

Ages: 6-14

This free 7-week program provides an amazing opportunity for kids to get ready to compete in their first triathlon! Through a unique partnership with YMCAs across New England, kids across the region are able to get expert instruction and gain the confidence and abilities necessary to become triathletes. The training consists of seven 1-hour sessions that focus on each of the four disciplines of the sport of triathlon: swim, bike, run, and transition.

Once the training is complete, participants can choose to participate in the New England Kids Triathlon at M.I.T. on July 16th. Participation in the triathlon is not required but encouraged.

Dates: June 5-July 12

Jaguars Youth Track & Field Program

Ages: 6-18

Under the direction of the YMCA’s Youth Wellness Specialist Ed Poirier and the Jaguars coaching staff, youth athletes participate in running, shot put, Javelin, long jump, and Cross Country. The program offers both parent and child fitness activities, including weekly fitness runs and walks. No mandatory practices or events. Come when you can!
