lisaLisa Hooker has been instructing group fitness classes for 13 years, and coincidentally, all 13 of those have been at the Attleboro Y – her home away from home. She does it all – interval traning, strength, balance, flexibility and more. Making you sweat is her main goal, but you’ll be sure to with a smile on your face. Laughter and groans fill the room in all of her classes, and you leave feeling accomplished, informed, and ready to come back for more.

Recently, Lisa talked to us about her decision to become an instructor for two new group exercise classes: Strength Train Together and Balance & Flex Together.

Why did you decide to take on these two new class formats?

Lisa: I wanted to do something different. I wanted to have a nice change.

What is your favorite new move?

Lisa: The crouch, also known as a short stride lunge.

What is your favorite new song and track?

Lisa: “I Put A Spell On You” by Jay Hawkins. (That song has been covered a ton of times, so it might have a different singer on track). This song is in the challenge track in Balance & Flex Together.

My favorite track all together is the back track in Strength Training Together. It works your back and legs, and has the crouch.

What part of you is the most sore after a Strength Train Together class?

Lisa: Legs!

Is there anything else you want to mention?

Lisa: What I have been telling members is that these classes offer new moves we have never done, and that is refreshing. It’s going to be a nice change for our bodies.
