Alex Cekala will be running his first Boston Marathon on behalf of the Attleboro Norton YMCA as a charity runner. Alex is the current Board President & Chief Volunteer Officer of the Attleboro Norton YMCA.

Alex is running to support the Y’s efforts with the Pleasant Street Child Development Center Renovation. In March of 2024, the Attleboro Norton YMCA will undergo a large renovation to the Pleasant Street branch of the YMCA. The branch was closed during Covid-19 to focus on child development at this location. The Y served hundreds of children in fully remote schools during the 2020-2021 school year and then shifted into Early Education and After School Care beginning in September of 2021. The renovation will be used for childcare and upgraded rooms to the state-of-the-art classrooms for children in our community. The new space will allow for more children in classrooms that are safe, secure, and comfortable for the teachers and families.

Most growing families need some form of childcare, either part-time or full-time, and finding a reliable and high-quality solution is challenging.  The Pleasant Street Child Development Center Renovation will improve the overall experience and add space for additional families.  More than 35% of the children served by the Attleboro Norton YMCA receive financial assistance. The Y is all about ensuring equal access and opportunity for all children in our community to have the support, services, and tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

Your support for Alex’s run will help make an impact on the many children and families in our community needing access to quality care and education!
